Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Arrives, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo and Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.

The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Cosmic Adventure Based on Beloved Titles

Similar to the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The feature will welcome back of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The new Mario movie is planned to debut around the time of the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

The company has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
