Paramount Skydance will initiate mass layoffs the week of 27 October, removing nearly 2,000 American roles under a expense reduction strategy totaling $2bn under top executive David Ellison.

The layoffs come after the combination between Skydance Media and Paramount Global, completed this past August worth $8.4bn.

Further international job cuts are expected, with the company planning to reveal complete information during its third-quarter financial update set for the 10th of November.

Prior news stated that Paramount was looking to cut between 2,000 to 3,000 roles by the beginning of next month.

By December 2024, Paramount had almost 18,600 workers on full-time and part-time contracts along with 3,500 contract workers.
